Current Projects:
I am currently writing a history of antislavery in British America and the United States down to 1827. When this project is completed (end of 2018), I would like to work on slavery in the state of Missouri & along the Mississippi as a way to understand American democracy in the 1830s and 1840s. I will focus on a number of personalities, artists and intellectuals who visited the area and drew their source of inspiration from it.
