Recherches en cours:

My research currently focuses on the aesthetic evolutions of American TV series, more particularly one-hour dramas, since 1999. I consider what has often been called "television’s third golden age", or "complex television" (J. Mittell) to explore aesthetic choices of TV series, which I connect with the recent mutations in modes of production and reception, as well as with technological evolutions. To what extent have mise-en-scène, framing, camerawork, sound treatment or editing, evolved in the past few years, and how should we consider the process of convergence (or divergence) with cinema and other art forms?

My projects focus more specifically on the following series: The Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Treme, Masters of Sex, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Good Wife, The Night Of.
